Britt Robertson is enjoying the ride as George Clooney’s ‘Tomorrowland’ co-star

Actress Britt Robertson didn’t realize she was becoming a big enchilada — until a recent encounter at her local Chipotle.

“There was a lady there who always makes my burritos and I always recognize her, but this was the first time she recognized me as an actor,” says the star of the sci-fi adventure “Tomorrowland,” opening Friday. “All of a sudden she said, ‘Wait, are you the girl from “The Longest Ride”?’

“And I kind of wanted to say, ‘No, I’m the girl who is a regular here who comes in every day and orders the exact same thing.’”

After “Tomorrowland” hits theaters, the 25-year-old may need to start ordering delivery.

In the film directed by Brad Bird and dreamed up by “Lost” co-creator Damon Lindelof, Robertson plays a teenage inventor and wide-eyed optimist named Casey Newton. Casey’s desperate to find a mysterious city populated by the world’s brightest scientists which she spies in a fleeting vision. Her only way in might be to enlist a cranky middle-aged genius (George Clooney) and an unusually strong little girl (Raffey Cassidy) to help her reach Tomorrowland before nefarious forces track them down.

Yes, the gig meant spending lots of time with Clooney.

“You’d think someone of George Clooney’s status would be disconnected or wouldn’t find it as easy to engage with a 24-year-old and a 12-year-old,” Robertson says. “It was a funny dynamic though, because I always felt like he was just trying to entertain us. A lot of the times we would be stuck in a truck together and he would always try to tell jokes or play music to keep us happy.

“There were a few moments, where you’d encounter civilians or people just freaking out over his fame, and I guess that kind of puts it in perspective for you, but for the most part he’s just your co-worker.”

A co-worker who’s able to perform The Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight” between takes.

Clooney may be at the top of the marquee, but Robertson — who starred in TV shows like CBS’ “Under the Dome” and CW’s “Life Unexpected” — is very much the lead, although there was no role for her at first.
